SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND SERVICES

COMPUTER ASSISTANCE:
I offer assistance in the use of, provide advice for, and troubleshoot problems with computers in a wide range of circumstances including driver files, developing simple web pages, and tutoring in the use of various applications (Both PC and Mac).

WEB PAGE DEVELOPMENT
I am very good at organizing information for a web site and providing the HTML for the site to function logically and efficiently.

TREE SERVICE
With a rope, a chain saw, and knowledge of how to cut trees, I can get most small and many mid-size trees on the ground and cut for firewood or longer pieces if desired. Depending on space, I can do larger trees as well. I do not climb trees for this type of work.

LANDSCAPING/YARD MAINTENANCE
I work with a lawn care service mowing lawns, raking leaves, general yard work, shoveling heavy winter snow off roofs, and so forth.

TRAVEL ADVISOR
I have extensive knowledge of travel and getting around, including rail travel, maps, and listings of approximate driving times between rest stops and major interchanges on many major northeastern highways. I can assist with finding destinations, suggesting different routes to get there while avoiding problem traffic or construction areas, I have direct knowledge of many transit alternatives and fares, and suggesting interesting things to see or do along the way. SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
With knowledge of the Macintosh Toolbox and the C programming language, I can make applications for Macintosh systems from System 7.0 up through OS 9.x. These skills could be transferred to Mac OS X if necessary.

COMPUTER LANGUAGES:
Generally in order of Proficiency: Microsoft Fox Pro, C, HTML, Hypertalk, Pascal, C++, COBOL, and others

COMPUTER PLATFORMS AND APPLICATIONS:
Macintosh: Microsoft Fox Pro, Works, Word, Excel; QuarkXpress, Hypercard, and many others
Microsoft Windows: Microsoft Access, Visual Basic and working knowledge of several others
Other Platforms including DOS, VAX, and UNIX

MAPS
I make maps that are clear, accurate, and easily readable. Click here for more information

SURVEYING
With my GPS receiver and my map drawing program, I can make rough survey maps accurate to within 20 feet very inexpensively. This works best for land areas of an acre or more.

MAPLE SYRUP
I know how to make Maple Syrup and know some families who have done this and probably still do.

HONEY
With a friend who has experience in bee keeping, I own a bee hive and can produce honey.
